YEIP Edmonton: Converting Legacy Pipelines to Hydrogen Service
Join the Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (YPAC) for a presentation on the challenges associated with converting legacy pipeline systems to hydrogen service on May 11, 2022 at 12:00pm MST. The event will be a presentation by C-FER Technologies.
C-FER works in partnership with the global energy industry to advance safety, environmental performance, and efficiency. We provide full-scale testing and specialized engineering consulting services from our world-class facilities in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. C-FER is taking a leading role in developing new testing procedures and facilities for testing full-scale line pipe specimens and other equipment in hydrogen service environments. This information is being incorporated into C-FER’s PIRAMID integrity management software to assist operators in managing pipelines transporting hydrogen.
Brian Wagg is Director, Corporate Services at C-FER. In 31 years at C-FER he has worked on various aspects of pipeline systems including analysing advanced flow regimes for transporting heavy oil, risk assessments of underground storage, testing the strain limits for arctic pipelines, and evaluating the performance of external leak detection systems. He is currently working with pipeline operators and research organizations from around the world to enable pipeline systems and underground storage facilities to be transitioned to hydrogen service.
