One year later\, the first Pride march was held in New York City to commemorate the Stonewall Riots and raise awareness. Since then\, Pride Month has been celebrated annually each June in cities around the world to honour the history\, diversity and continued fight for equality within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

DESCRIPTION:Hispanic Heritage Month is an annual celebration in the U.S. that occurs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15\, while in Canada\, the month of October is designated as Latin American Heritage Month. During this month\, we celebrate the history and culture of all people descended from Spanish speaking communities. This celebration also coincides with the independence of several Latin American countries\, including Mexico Independence day on Sept. 16. \nWe honour the history\, contributions and achievements of all Hispanics and Latinos. Together\, let’s shine a spotlight on the unique voices and experiences of Hispanics and Latinos who have contributed to North America’s success.

DESCRIPTION:September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada – a day to honour the victims and survivors of residential schools so they are never forgotten. The day was established in 2021 by the Canadian government in response to Call to Action #80 in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Final Report. ​ \nThe day also coincides with Orange Shirt Day\, when people wear orange shirts to symbolize the experiences and abuse suffered by children at residential schools. ​

DESCRIPTION:Formerly known as Aboriginal Veteran’s Day\, this day was established first in Manitoba in 1994. Indigenous people have played an integral part in Canada’s efforts in all monumental wars dating back to 1812. Over 4\,000 indigenous people served during World War I. Nov. 8 serves as a national day of recognition of more than 200 years of service by First Nation\, Metis and Inuit communities. \nIn Canada\, November 8 is celebrated as Indigenous Veterans day. On this day\, we honour the sacrifice of the First Nation\, Metis and Inuit soldiers who served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Over 12\,000 indigenous people have served in the Armed Forces. This day serves as a reminder to honour the bravery and dedication of indigenous veterans.
