DESCRIPTION:Formerly known as Aboriginal Veteran’s Day\, this day was established first in Manitoba in 1994. Indigenous people have played an integral part in Canada’s efforts in all monumental wars dating back to 1812. Over 4\,000 indigenous people served during World War I. Nov. 8 serves as a national day of recognition of more than 200 years of service by First Nation\, Metis and Inuit communities. \nIn Canada\, November 8 is celebrated as Indigenous Veterans day. On this day\, we honour the sacrifice of the First Nation\, Metis and Inuit soldiers who served in the Canadian Armed Forces. Over 12\,000 indigenous people have served in the Armed Forces. This day serves as a reminder to honour the bravery and dedication of indigenous veterans.
