The CEPA-APGA Pipeline Competency System is a comprehensive means of assessing and documenting competency across the full range of activities within the pipeline lifecycle. Through a collaborative partnership, the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) and the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) have adapted APGA’s Pipeline Engineering Competency System (PECS) for use in Canada and are now broadening the system to include competency standards for other technical areas. This session included an introduction to APGA and CEPA, a brief description of competency and competency management system, history and background on this initiative, an overview of the CEPA-APGA Pipeline Competency System, potential applications for the system, how CEPA members can access and use the system, and what the future of this initiative looks like.
