YEIP Recognizes: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30
September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada – a day to honour the victims and survivors of residential schools so they are never forgotten. The day was established in 2021 by the Canadian government in response to Call to Action #80 in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Final Report.
The day also coincides with Orange Shirt Day, when people wear orange shirts to symbolize the experiences and abuse suffered by children at residential schools.
