YEIP Recognizes: Veteran’s Day / Remembrance Day
November 11
On November 11, in Canada and the U.S., we honor and commemorate members of the armed forces who served our countries. Veteran’s Day and Remembrance Day, originally called Armistice Day, originated on November 11, 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I.
This day is an opportunity to recall all who have served in the nation’s defense. In Canada, many people wear red poppy flowers, inspired by the poem “In Flanders Fields”, or white poppy flowers to show solidarity.
