The Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (YPAC) is a professional group for early-career individuals in the pipeline industry. Pipelines are an integral part of Canada’s energy future, and YPAC is committed to building the next generation of leaders for the industry. We want to shape the future of the pipeline industry so that it can attract and retain top talent. We do this by enabling two-way dialogue between young pipeliners and key stakeholders in government, industry, and academia on critical topics: Climate Change, Indigenous Reconciliation, Innovation, and Diversity & Inclusion. Guided by our values of creativity, bold vision, and focus, we are catalyzing change.
YPAC’s vision is to build the next generations of pipeline industry leaders that diligently work towards safe, efficient and reliable operations of pipelines. A milestone accomplishment occurred in Spring 2020 where Canadian Standard Association Group (CSA) agreed to collaborate with YPAC to be a part of Oil and Gas standards development. Through this collaboration YPAC members will gain valuable experience and develop a better understanding of the CSA code through their contribution in the technical committee and subcommittee meetings. YPAC members will also get opportunities to network with peers of the pipeline industry, participate in industry forums and conferences. Knowledge transfer is integral to building next generation leaders; active participation of YPAC members in various technical committee meetings and activities will ensure adequate sharing of knowledge among the pipeliners. Liaison with various technical leaders on various industry trends, concerns and events. Additionally, YPAC members will also gain potential access CSA products and training services at a discounted rate through the YPAC channel. To launch YPAC-CSA collaboration, YPAC will be actively recruiting suitable candidates for this initiative.
In summary, the YPAC executive team will form a CSA advisory committee that will oversee this initiative and recruit YPAC members to join this collaboration when positions become available. The recruiting process will involve applying through the YPAC website as well as filling out the membership survey, so the candidate can be matched with the right opportunities.
