“APEGA Council Election is currently underway, with voting closing on March 6th. I would
very much encourage any of you who are members of APEGA to participate. You can find out more information at https://www.apega.ca/members/election (https://www.apega.ca/members/election). There are several challenges currently facing APEGA, including new legislation proposed by the Government of Alberta, adopting new technologies into our practice, and global outsourcing of engineering and geoscience. There are also frustrations with members in terms of application timelines, application requirements, training opportunities, and the process for tracking and reporting of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours. I decided to run for the APEGA Council this year because engineering has been great for me, and I want all current and future engineers and geoscientists to have the same or better opportunities in their careers. I am concerned about the new legislation and the frustrations being voiced by our members. If elected, I will work to ensure that APEGA’s
regulations and bylaws best represent our members’ needs and maintain the profession’s value, and I will aim to bring more clarity and ease of use to the system. Finally, I encourage you to participate in APEGA. The more people that get involved, the better APEGA will represent the diversity and needs of its members. Thank you for your support.”
